Additionally, 69 percent support making President Trump’s tax returns public.
In the days following the 2018 midterms, we tested American attitudes towards individual versus government responsibility. Today we ask whether it is more important that President Trump’s tax returns be disclosed than that candidates’ tax returns be disclosed.
As of our most recent poll, a majority (51 percent) support releasing President Trump’s tax returns. Most Americans support releasing President Trump’s tax returns but not those of candidates for President.
Some Americans are not interested in President Trump’s tax returns, however, and are not sure whether they should be released. Overall, 48 percent of Americans say it’s “very important” that President Trump’s tax returns be released, while 44 percent say it’s “somewhat important.”
Democrats are most likely to say it’s important that President Trump’s tax returns be made public (55 percent), while Republicans are least likely (36 percent).
