A new fast-activated immunoassay has been designed. The principle of the procedure is that IgG antibodies are captured by an antibody-coupled paramagnetic microbeads. In the presence of a gold particle coated with anti-IgM, an antigen-antibody complex is formed. The gold particles coupled with anti-IgM are then captured by antibodies bound to the microbeads. The antigen-antibody complex is labeled by streptavidin-gold particles. Therefore, only the antigen-antibody complex that has captured the microbead is labeled. The procedure of the test is only 7-15 min and can be applied to routine use. The assay is an example of a new sensitive immunoassay for detection of anti-Toxoplasma IgG and IgM antibodies, and is compared with other method.
